Walk and talk

Our environments affect our mental health, and vice versa. I offer ecotherapy at a park in Seattle for those who prefer to engage with the healing potential of the outdoors. Some people find it easier to relax and open up in an outdoors setting. Benefits of ecotherapy include: improved energy, increased connection to nature, and reductions in anxiety levels. Insurance

I am an out-of-network provider for all insurance companies. You may be eligible for partial reimbursement from your insurance. If you would like to use your out-of-network benefits, I encourage you to contact your insurance company and ask about coverage for outpatient mental health services. If you do choose this path, I will provide you with a superbill at the end of each month for your insurance company. Please note that you are responsible for the full cost of our session at the time of service. You can support small businesses in the form of private practice rather than accepting the limited choices “allowed” to you by your insurance company.

Here is a guide of what to ask your insurance when you call ahead to determine out-of-network benefits:

  • How much of the fee is reimbursed for out-of-network therapy providers within my plan?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible for outpatient mental health visits?

  • How much of my deductible have I met this year?

  • Is teletherapy covered by my plan?

  • Do I need a referral from a primary care physician to see someone out-of-network?

  • How do I submit claims for out-of-network reimbursement?

  • How long will it take to be reimbursed after I have submitted my claims?

  • As of January 1, 2022, state-licensed or certified health care providers need to give a Good Faith Estimate of healthcare charges to every new and continuing client who is either uninsured or is not planning to submit a claim to their insurance for the healthcare services they seek.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

This Good Faith Estimate doesn't account for late cancellations, no-show fees, crisis sessions, non-therapeutic charges, case management fees, court litigation fees, or other financial arrangements determined on a case by case basis. Details included in my disclosure form.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

See my fees above to help you budget for treatment.
